Stuff to do around Chicago

There’s a ton of stuff to do around the city in the summer. Below are a handful of things we like, if you’re looking for ideas, but don’t let these constrain you, there are lots of other great things going on too. Feel free to ask us for nearby food and drink recommendations once you figure out what part of town you’ll be in!

Lakefront Beaches and Trail

Chicago has 24 (!) beaches along Lake Michigan, and there are some pretty great ones that are very centrally located. You can also combine a beach day (or half day) with a walk along the Lakefront Trail and / or Lincoln Park.

Hang Out Downtown

If you’re staying near the venue you’ll be downtown, where there’s lots to do. Visit the Art Institute, grab a drink at the Chicago Athletic Association’s Drawing Room lobby bar or Game Room, walk the Riverwalk.

Museum of Science and Industry

The Museum of Science and Industry is in Hyde Park, which is a bit of a trip from downtown, but it’s worth the trip because it’s huge and cool as hell.

Ravenswood Microbreweries

If you’re a beer person, you can try lots of local beers at the breweries along Ravenswood’s “Malt Row.”

Logan Square Farmer’s Market

This is Kristen and Ben’s neighborhood, and on Sundays it hosts (in our opinion) the best Farmers Market in the city.

Eat Stuff in the West Loop

The West Loop is where a bunch of the city’s best restaurants are. We love Rose Mary, the Time Out Market is fun, and Au Cheval’s burger is famous.
